Hesitant in games
The player has ability, but struggles to recognise opportunities or decide quickly under pressure.
A 12-week online support programme for committed youth players worldwide, with Jaden actively overseeing your child’s basketball development. Personalised coaching, film study and accountability give them a clearer sense of what to work on and how to improve.
The player has ability, but struggles to recognise opportunities or decide quickly under pressure.
Skills look comfortable in workouts, but the player does not yet understand when and why to use them in competition.
They want to improve, but do not know what to watch, what to practise or how to learn between team sessions.
We start with your child’s goals and current challenges, then review their progress and adjust their priorities as they develop.
We understand the player’s goals, current role, playing environment, habits and biggest challenges.
Sessions combine film study with conversations about the player’s goals, challenges and progress. We use their own footage when available, or examples from other players, to explore game situations and identify what to work on next.
Players receive clear strengths, learning opportunities and practical areas of focus to guide their work away from the screen.
We help players understand their strengths, set meaningful goals and build purposeful training and reflection habits. Together, we agree practical steps they can follow between sessions.
Direct support between sessions keeps players engaged with agreed actions. We use WhatsApp, or agree an accessible alternative with international families before enrolment. Messages are welcome at any time and answered within one working day.
Every four weeks, parents receive a concise update on the player’s engagement, current focus and next development priorities.
We do not promise shortcuts. We teach players how to study, reflect and make sense of the game.
Basketball is unpredictable. Development is not a straight line, and no responsible coach can guarantee minutes, confidence or performance.
What Courtside IQ can provide is an environment where players are guided to notice more, ask better questions, understand feedback and build stronger learning habits.
Learning to notice space, teammates, defenders and the information available before making a decision.
Building the language and awareness needed to process feedback and respond constructively.
Knowing what deserves attention between games instead of relying on generic drills and random repetition.
Moving beyond highlights to study decisions, context, off-ball actions and patterns within the game.
Developing the reflection and accountability habits to become less dependent on constant instruction.
Helping players better understand their role and make choices that coaches and teammates can rely on.
For players and families who want longer-term coaching, a 24-week development programme is also available. We can discuss the most suitable commitment during the assessment.
You’ll work directly with Jaden Gonzales, founder of Courtside IQ. He leads the weekly sessions, helps your child put their learning into practice and stays in touch between sessions. Meet Jaden and read his story.

Meaningful development takes consistency. A one-off session can offer useful feedback, but it does not give us enough time to understand a player’s patterns, support them through different game situations and measure real progress. Over 12 weeks, I can become part of the player’s development, provide ongoing accountability and help turn insight into lasting habits.
Committed youth players who want to understand basketball, learn how to improve and take an active role in their development. Whether they already play matches or are working towards them, what matters is a willingness to learn, reflect and follow through between sessions. Their own game footage is not required.
Yes. Whether you play 1v1, 3x3 or 5v5, or you’re preparing to enter those competitions, the coaching is tailored to your goals and the format you want to compete in. Film study, game understanding and development priorities are shaped around the situations you’ll face.
They can still join. We can study footage of other players to explore situations and develop their understanding of the game. Sessions also give them space to talk through their goals, challenges, strengths and areas for improvement, with practical guidance and accountability between sessions. They do not need to be playing matches yet to benefit from the coaching.
No. If your child has footage, clear phone, parent-recorded or team video can work. We’ll check whether the angle and quality are useful for analysis. If they don’t have suitable footage, we can use examples from other players.
No coach can responsibly guarantee selection, minutes or performance. The programme helps players understand situations, develop stronger learning habits and make more informed decisions; outcomes also depend on their environment and engagement.
Courtside IQ focuses on understanding the game and learning how to improve as a player. Physical skills may come up when relevant, but sessions also cover goals, challenges, learning habits and purposeful independent practice. Personalised guidance and accountability help players put what they learn into action on and off the court.
No. Courtside IQ is delivered online so the coaching can focus on the areas players often receive less support with: understanding game situations, learning through film and reflection, planning purposeful independent work and staying accountable between sessions. It is designed to complement a player’s team practices and physical training, not replace them.
Yes. Parent involvement is welcomed, particularly during the initial assessment and four-week progress reviews.
If the family decides during the first 14 days that the programme is not the right fit, they can leave under the written guarantee terms provided before enrolment.
